+ Our Process
Pruex adopts a process
of find & fix.
Find
Swabs are taken from animal drinking systems and inside animal housing. These are
analysed to identify infectious bacteria areas causing animal health issues. The analysis is
included in a report which also recommends how beneficial bacteria should be introduced
to resolve the hygiene challenges.

Fix
In the “fix” stage, beneficial bacterial are introduced to water systems and into the
environment via fogging. A few weeks later Pruex conducts more swabbing to further
analyse areas of risk. The reduction of infectious bacteria in drinking water and on
surfaces improves animal productivity and decreases reliance on antibiotics.

We focus on the two main
problem areas: water & surfaces.
Water
Microorganisms are found everywhere in nature. They are present in large numbers
on skin, in our digestive tract, in soil, water and in the air. Most microorganisms are
beneficial, useful or even necessary for survival. But dangerous or ‘unwanted’ infectious
microorganisms also exist and can cause disease in animals and humans. Although these
infectious bacteria are only a small portion of the total number of microorganisms, they
give microbes a bad reputation.
Whether they are in the soil, air, water, humans, animals or plants, microbes tend to
organise into communities – the microbial community, microbiome or microflora. Such
communities can be very diverse and complex. Together, all microbes have only one
purpose: survive as long as possible with as many as possible. Each microbial member
contributes to the sustainability of its community.

When a microbial community or microflora attaches to a solid surface, it is called a biofilm.
Because they harbour a large number of infectious bacteria, biofilms often negatively
affect humans and animals. These harmful Infectious bacteria can contaminate drinking
water systems and surfaces, to the detriment of animal health.
It is very difficult to eradicate biofilm in water systems or on surfaces. But by introducing
Pruex beneficial bacteria every day for a few weeks, we can deliver and maintain a
completely clean supply of water to animals.

Clean water, free of biofilm improves animal immunity and overall health.
Surfaces
Animal immunity can be improved, and disease reduced by keeping surfaces in
high-risk areas free from infectious bacteria. For instance, where animal stocking
densities are high, and disease is prevalent, PIP Air can be fogged or misted to
outcompete the infectious bacteria.
